• Yet another mini Novation controller – the Launchpad Mini

Seriously? Launchkey Mini, then the mini-sized Launch Control, now this?

It seems Novation has had these rapid fire announcements planned for quite some time now. And I think they’ll make a killing with them.

The Launchpad Mini is like a chibi version of the Launchpad S – It can do everything it’s big brother does, only it uses .gifs on the product page. Oh, and it’s significantly smaller (and cuter and more fluffy, and look at those huge watery eyes… OK, I’ve been watching too much anime). It can easily be powered by an iPad (no wonder they’re marketing it as “The Launchpad for the iPad generation”) and it’s meant to integrate with the new Novation Launchpad iPad app.

Also, it seems that Novation have set their sights on extending their allure to FL Studio users as well as Ableton Live geeks (the Launchpad Mini isn’t sporting the Ableton logo, unlike it’s older brothers), which means we might just start seeing more FL Studio controllerism on YouTube, which is a good thing (just look at Madeon). Competition is king.

Quoting Novation on Launchpad Midi specs:

    ҉ۢ 64 three-colour pads
    • Integrates perfectly with Launchpad app for iPad
    • Tough, portable and bus-powered – even from an iPad
    • Comes with Ableton Live Lite and an extensive Loopmasters sample pack
    • Full member of the Launch Family – integrated fully with all Launch products.”

Oh, and speaking of the Launch Family, take a look at this:

    Now that’s #swag.
